COVID-19 deaths in Michigan now 5,158, new cases total just under 54,000

. (WOOD) — Michigan has recorded 29 more deaths linked to coronavirus for a statewide total of 5,158.

State data released Friday showed, 403 cases were confirmed Thursday, bringing the total to 53,913 since the outbreak began in March.

Health department officials reported three new deaths from COVID-19 in Kent County, bringing the total to 65. Kent County now has recorded 3,231 confirmed cases, 86 more than the day prior.
