GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — After Gov. Whitmer loosened restrictions in regions 6 and 8, it allowed bars, restaurants and retail shops in northern Michigan to open Friday. Meanwhile, the rest of the people in the state wonder when it will be their turn.
In an interview with Rick Albin, Gov. Whitmer listed the criteria being considered for economic reengagement.“We are watching to see that we are continuing to increase our testing. We’re also watching to see how many of those percentages are positive in terms of how many tests we’re conducting. What is our hospitalization rate? What is our capacity in our hospitals?”
Whitmer said she won’t set specific benchmarks in terms of numbers, saying context of cases is key in making decisions.
The governor when asked about her stay-at-home order, currently in effect through May 28, said it would be extended “to some extent,” though it sounded like some of its restrictions could be relaxed.
Whitmer added, “It’s going be a while before we going to fully vet it that it’s safe to have general public reengagement."
