1 Contract talks are underway aimed at ending a strike by 49,000 GM workers. They extended later into Monday afternoon with no end in sight anytime soon. A UAW spokesman says both side have agreed on about 2% of the contract language, leaving 98% left to negotiate.
2 Oil prices surged Monday after an attack on Saudi Arabia's largest oil plant halted production of more than 5.7 million barrels of crude a day.
But after an initial spike, crude oil prices moderated as traders analyzed the likely longer-term implications.
3 The Grand Rapids Police Department is asking for help in identifying a person involved in two separate arson incidents on the city's northeast side at a home in the 2000 block of Swensberg Avenue NE
Area security cameras caught both incidents on video.
The footage shows a white male attempting to set fire to the home. He appears to be wearing a black-hooded Northface jacket, black pants and black boots.

After losing Michael Scott and company to NBCUniversal, Netflix fired a big shot in the streaming wars by getting the worldwide rights to "Seinfeld."
There's a shortage of police in Minneapolis, and that law enforcement absence is being felt in the city's downtown district. Robbery is up almost 54% in downtown Minneapolis compared with last year, and there has been a string of brutal assaults in the area, several of them captured on video. There were more than 6,000 "priority one" 911 calls made -- those are robberies, shootings and sexual assaults -- for which an officer wasn't immediately available to respond. The pool of applicants for police jobs is significantly smaller than it used to be, the president of the Minnesota Police Officers Union said. The city's police chief wants to add 400 officers by 2025, but Minneapolis' mayor said there's just not money in the budget to do that.
