Cinderella Project to offer free prom dresses

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — An annual event aimed at making prom both affordable and memorable for Kalamazoo-area students will make its return Friday.

The Cinderella Project will offer over 2,200 prom dresses and accessories to high school juniors and seniors. Everything is completely free thanks to generous donations to the program.

Prom serves as a milestone for students each year, but it often comes with a big price tag.

"For some young ladies, prom and perhaps your wedding are the one days that you get to dress up, wear a beautiful gown and feel like an absolute princess. For some people that's not always doable because of whatever family hardships they're going through," founder Adrienne Wissner told 24 Hour News 8.
