LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — On the final day of session before a two-week break for state lawmakers, legislation was introduced that would dramatically change the definition of drunken driving in Michigan.
The plan, unveiled Thursday afternoon, would make Michigan one of most stringent states in the U.S. when it comes to drinking and driving.
One billwould lower the state’s legal limit for blood alcohol content from the current 0.08 to 0.05.
State Rep. Abdullah Hammoud, a Democrat from Dearborn, says his idea would "save lives and prevent drunk driving."
