GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigan nonprofit working to end child hunger hopes the community can help expand its reach.
Kids' Food Basket hopes to raise $24,000 during its Day of Giving.
"Each and every day, we wake up with 15 schools on our waiting list just here in Kent County," founding CEO Bridget Clark Whitney told 24 Hour News 8. "Eleven schools in Muskegon, two schools on a wait list in Holland and all of these schools have over 70 percent of kids living in poverty. So there's a huge need out there that we're simply just not able to do that yet."
