'Alert' employee leads Kzoo police to burglary suspect

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Kalamazoo police commend an alert employee of a local business who helped them find a man who had broken into and stolen from several homes. 

Police were called around 5:30 p.m. Friday for a string of burglaries in the area of 1800 Bloomfield Avenue east of Portage Street in Kalamazoo's Milwood neighborhood. 

Authorities say a 38-year-old Kalamazoo man invaded and stole from several homes and a vehicle before police arrived. 

Throughout the course of their investigation, police say they were able to gather a detailed description of the burgalr which they shared with homeowners and local businesses.

A few hours later police recieved a tip from an employee of a local business that the man was loitering inside their business. 

When officers arrived they found the man and noted he matched the suspect from the previous home invasions.

Police arrested the man, found the stolen items and returned them to their rightful owners.
