KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP/WOOD) — Michigan State Police say the man suspected of shooting a police officer during a traffic stop in mid-Michigan is in custody, after a shootout with officers.
Joshua Michael Rosebush, 29, was arrested after a brief police chase in Shiawassee County, state police said. Rosebush fired shots at officers, who returned fire, injuring him, according to MSP.
No officers were injured, but Rosebush was taken to a hospital for treatment, state police said.
Rosebush was driving a stolen pickup truck for AIS Construction Equipment when he allegedly shot Saginaw Township Officer Jeff Koenig during a traffic stop.
Saginaw Township police Chief Don Pussehl said Koenig was shot in the face and shoulder as he approached the vehicle around 2 a.m. Tuesday in Saginaw County's Kochville Township. Pussehl says Koenig, a 16-year veteran of the force, radioed for help after the shooting and was in stable condition.
Pussehl said the suspect's stolen pickup truck was later recovered.
