GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A year after a Grand Rapids woman and her 2-year-old grandson were gunned down in their own home, relatives gathered to remember them and call for an end to the violence.
Germaine Bulloch-Brown, 46, and her grandson, King Talbert, were shot and killed on Jan. 17, 2018 at Brown's home on Montgomery Street SE.
Germaine’s husband, Darrell Brown, was the one who found them. Since their deaths, he has turned to his faith to help cope with the loss.
Brown says his family is in better spirits, but can't ignore the senseless killings that stole the lives of his wife and young grandson, leaving him to raise his and Bulloch-Brown’s 10-year-old son alone.
“This is just like somebody just snatched our lives away and we just got lost for a minute. We're trying to put things back together and hopefully, you know, God is with us,” said Brown. “You don't want to lose a loved one to find out that this gun play and drugs have to stop.”
