GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was shot and killed in the parking lot of a strip mall on Grand Rapids' south side Sunday, police say.
It happened just before 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Town & Country Shopping Center on Kalamazoo Avenue at 44th Street SE.
The name of the person killed, who was the only victim, has not yet been released, but the Grand Rapids Police Department tweeted it was a male.
The circumstances of the shooting are not yet clear. An employee at Florentine Sports Lounge, which is in the strip mall, described it to 24 Hour News 8 as a drive-by shooting, though police haven't confirmed that.
Florentine's owner said she doesn't believe anyone involved in the shooting was ever in her restaurant.
