$1.5M to fund bus stop upgrades in metro GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A combined $1.5 million will bring covered shelters and other improvements to bus stops around the Grand Rapids area.

Each shelter is expected to cost around $10,000.

The Downtown Development Authority will pay $500,000 for up to 50 shelters in the downtown area. The Rapid bus service will contribute $250,000 and the city's Mobile GR and Parking Services will pay $750,000 for as many as 70 additional shelters outside downtown.
