KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The process begins today to find a jury to decide the fate of the Kalamazoo shooting rampage suspect.
Jason Dalton, 48, of Cooper Township, is charged with six counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and eight counts of felony use of a firearm.
Today, the judge will speak with potential jurors in his chambers to begin narrowing down the pool of about 200. He'll be checking to make sure they are coming in with open minds, unbiased by news coverage.
Though the shooting spree dominated headlines after it happened nearly three years ago, prosecutors say they don't think they'll have any trouble finding 14 people (12 jurors and two alternates) who are impartial.
