Witness: Gift-wrapped gun used in gas station Christmas robbery

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are looking for two masked men who robbed a 28th Street gas station on Christmas using a gift-wrapped gun, according to a witness.

It happened around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday at  the Shell gas station at 3960 28th Street SE, just west of East Paris Avenue in Kentwood.

Kentwood police say two men dressed all in  black walked into the gas station and robbed the clerk using what  appeared to be a long gun. The thieves ran away with cash, but it’s  unclear how much.

No one was injured in the crime.

K-9 officers were called in to try to track the robbers Christmas night, as police worked to identify them.

This is the second time this month the Shell gas station has been robbed. On  Dec. 2, a man armed with a knife and wearing a hairnet over his face  robbed a clerk and took the employee's vehicle. Officers arrested the suspect in a hotel parking lot a few blocks away.
