It happened around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 22000 block of 24th Avenue, between Hoover and Truman streets in Chester Township, about 9 miles northwest of Sparta.
An Ottawa County sheriff’s deputy said the woman dropped her cigarette on the couch she was resting on, sparking the fire which spread to her clothing.
