Suspected drunk driver injured after hitting tree

WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a suspected drunk driver was injured after hitting a tree in Ottawa County Friday evening.

It happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of 24th Avenue and Arthur Street east of Coopersville, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. 

Depuities say the driver, a 32-year-old Walker resident was traveling east on 24th Avenue when the vehicle lost control and crossed the centerline, striking a mailbox. The driver then crossed back over the road striking a guard rail, going airborne and colliding into a tree.
