Wood TV GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — While Broadway Bar on Grand Rapids’ West Side is all about Christmas, some of its holiday decor is disappearing this year because of Grinches.
Tom Schuitema has been transforming Broadway Bar into Christmas central for more than two decades.
“I try. I do my best,” said Schuitema, who also resembles Santa.
His love of Christmas runs deep. He says it started when he was four years old.
"I remember Herpolsheimer's when I was a kid. (I) try to bring that back, that feeling," said Schuitema.
From laughing reindeer to singing frogs, Schuitema takes pride in every festive piece inside and outside the bustling bar.
"I've been saving these (toys) for 20 years and most of them I can't replace," said Schuitema.
He says he loses a few toys off the tables each year, but the five already missing this season is unusual.
