Grand Rapids Police Chief Rahinsky addresses resignation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A day after an announcement that took many officers by surprise, Grand Rapids Police Chief David Rahinsky will discuss his plans to retire.

Rahinsky will join Grand Rapids City Manager Mark Washington for Thursday’s news conference, scheduled to start at 10:15 a.m.

Washington notified commissioners of Rahinsky’s resignation in a message Wednesday, sharing some of his accomplishments, including adopting police body cameras, implementing a youth interaction policy and welcoming the most diverse class of officers in GRPD’s history.
