GVSU students turn class project into unique experience

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Fieldhouse Complex at Grand Valley State University is hosting a unique event Tuesday night.

A one-of-a-kind basketball game will give Special Olympics athletes an experience like they’ve never had before: the Rally with the Rapids for Special Olympics.

Megan Belke is one of the students in a GVSU sports facility and management class. The junior has seen the group’s semester-long work of gathering teams, pulling sponsors and exciting the community, culminating to Tuesday night’s event.

"We would like to give them the best experience they possibly can have and we would like the fans to be extremely excited and make it a real-life scenario; because it is, a real-life scenario," Belke said.
