Authorities Say 42 People Are Dead In Camp Fire In Northern California

The Camp Fire in Northern California is now claiming 42 lives.  

In a news conference Monday night, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said 13 bodies were found throughout the day.  

Fire officials say the fire near Chico, California has expanded to 117-thousand acres and is 30-percent contained.  

Over five-thousand firefighters continue to battle the blaze which has destroyed over seven-thousand buildings.  About 52-thousand people remain evacuated with over 13-hundred people in shelters.  

Honea said more search and rescue teams and cadaver dogs are being requested to find more fire victims.  

Cal Fire stressed that progress is being made, as winds are dying down.  But, dry conditions will likely persist as rain isn't predicted to fall any time soon.
