Red Kettle, Angel Tree drives underway: How you can help

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) —The Salvation Army’s effort to ensure every family has gifts under their tree and a meal on the table for Christmas is now underway.

The Red Kettle campaign and Angel Tree Toy Drive officially kicked off at noon Friday in downtown Grand Rapids.

Their goal: collect $1.5 million in donations with the help of 60 red kettles scattered throughout the community.

“We want to make sure that this Christmastime, there will be toys under the tree, meals on the table for individuals. And also that $1.5 million will help with year-round services the Salvation Army does here in the community,” said Major Norman Grainger.

The Salvation Army is also calling on corporations, churches and community members to help with its Angel Tree Toy Drive for less fortunate children and teenagers this holiday season.
