MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A Muskegon man has been sentenced to prison for the murder of his 1-year-old daughter.
On Wednesday, Justin Smutz was sentenced to eight to 22 1/2 year in prison for manslaughter and two to six years for second-degree child abuse. He received credit for 658 days served and his sentences will run concurrently.
Authorities say his daughter, Adalynn, died in May after being left alone with her 2-year-old sibling to a bathtub filled with water. The day before she died, Smutz’s son was found wandering the streets and police said it took 45 minutes to find his dad.
