ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — No one likes dodging those orange barrels.
“It's always a pain. Always backed up, always crowded,” said Dan Smith, who has had to take the back roads to and from work this summer, as work on US-131 between 10 Mile Road and M-57 continued.
Many business along Algoma Avenue north of 10 Mile Road have dealt with heavy traffic, making it hard for customers trying to get in and out of the parking lots. But for one business, the added traffic has been a good thing.
“It makes people drive down Algoma (Avenue) or they'll be driving down Ten Mile and they'll see the Sprinkle sign and be like oh, donuts sound good,” said Amy Plambeck, the assistant manager of Sprinkles Donuts. “It's helped pick up business in the morning especially with people on their way to work, and it just gets our name out there more.”
The bad news for drivers, those detours may continue through the winter.
