GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — With the November election less than two weeks away, the Grand Rapids City Clerk’s office is extending its business hours to allow voters to cast their absentee ballots in person.
Registered Grand Rapids voters can pick up an absentee ballot at the city clerk’s office until 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5. Anyone who requests an absentee ballot on the last day will need to vote at the office and submit their ballot then.
The two-sided ballot has three sections: partisan, non-partisan and proposals. Straight-party voting is not available. Voters will need to individually pick each candidate or issue they support and only vote for the maximum number of candidates allowed, as listed on the ballot.
Following state law, all absentee ballot voters must show a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license. Those who do not have a photo ID must sign a form stating they do not have have a photo ID before voting.
The Grand Rapids City Clerk’s office is located on the second floor of 300 Monroe Ave. NW. Absentee voting office hours leading up to the election are as follows:
- Tuesday, Oct. 23, 5 - 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 25, 5 - 7 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 28, noon - 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, Oct. 30, 5 - 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 3, 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.
