State giving $1.5M to WMU's Unified Clinics

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Western Michigan University College of Health and Human Services is getting $1.5 million from the state to fund its Unified Clinics.

The Unified Clinics are 10 specialty departments that serve families who often uninsured or underinsured and that provide hands-on clinical training for students.

State Sen. Margaret O'Brien, R-Portage, was at the Unified Clinics in Kalamazoo Tuesday to announced the appropriation that she helped secure for the upcoming fiscal year. She said the money will ensure the clinics can serve the community for decades to come.
