DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say five fires near the Mecosta-Montcalm county line Monday are being investigated as arsons.
Firefighters on scene told 24 Hour News 8 that the fires — three in Mecosta County's Deerfield Township and two at the same location in Montcalm County — are believed to be connected and being investigated as arsons.
Montcalm County dispatchers told 24 Hour News 8 that firefighters were called shortly before 5 a.m. for a large barn fire at a dairy farm in the 14000 block of Washington Road in Deerfield Township, east of Morley. A witness near the scene said that there may be multiple structures involved.
