GRPD: Man in custody after police perimeter

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police took one person into custody Sunday night nearly two hours after setting up perimeter around an apartment.

Cruisers blocked off an area around Leonard Street at Emerald Avenue NE shortly before 10 p.m. Officers could be heard using a loudspeaker to tell someone to come out of the house.

Police on the scene said they were responding to a report of a man armed with a gun, who they believed went into a unit at nearby apartment complex.
