Unfriendly Skies: Group pre-boarding plane denied help

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — We all have certain situations that make us nervous.

For Michelle Polanic, it’s holding people up.

“It’s always been an anxiety of mine, having people have to wait for me,” explained Polanic, 27, from the living room of her Jenison home. It makes boarding a plane with carry-on bags a stressful event.

“Getting on a plane and putting the bags in the overhead compartment is one of my biggest fears. There’s all kinds of people trying to get on the plane, it takes me a little longer,” Polanic said.

That’s why she recently decided to try pre-boarding for the first time.

The group she was with had just attended a retreat put on by SheLift, a national organization that brings together girls and women around the country who have physical differences.
