SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — State police have charged a Branch County man with two counts of felony child abuse after his child suffered a head injury.
The alleged incident happened in June at a residence in the 200 block of Wheatfield Drive in Sherwood Township, south of Battle Creek.
Michigan State Police Detective Heather Lass says 24-year-old James William Smith, the baby’s father, most likely shook the 7-month-old boy and caused “non-accidental” head trauma.
