GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Hundreds gathered in downtown Grand Rapids Sunday for the second annual Mike Sadler Celebration of Life.
The Forest Hills Northern graduate and former Michigan State University punter was killed in a crash two years ago.
Those close to him remembered his outgoing personality and willingness to help anyone in any situation.
“He was family to me, to be able to be here and celebrate his amazing life and the accomplishments that he had is amazing,” said Chris Frey, a former teammate at MSU.
All proceeds from Sunday’s event are going towards endowing a scholarship in Sadler’s name.
“It meant so much to him to reach out to friends and family and community and to be involved in everything he could be,” said his sister Katie Sadler. “This is just a show of support for everything Michael was and everything people want to carry on now that he’s gone.”
