LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WOOD) -- The brave woman who sparked the 2016 Larry Nassar investigation named her newborn after the Michigan State University detective who helped bring him to justice.
Unless you've followed the case closely, you may not have known Kalamazoo-native Rachael Denhollander and her husband, Jacob, were expecting their fourth child during much of the Nassar court proceedings.
Since the sentencings in January, the Denhollanders have advocated for legislative changes and remained involved in media coverage. They weren't able to attend the ESPYS because Rachael's due date was the same week Nassar survivors were honored with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
Jacob took to her Twitter Friday afternoon writing, "Jacob here - letting you all know that baby girl made her appearance earlier this afternoon. Rachael and baby are resting and doing well. Thanks for your support and prayers."
