WOOD Radio was represented at the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Broadcast Excellence Awards by Lauren Smith and Greg Ghering, seen here with WOOD's Station of the Year award (for the Commercial Radio Market 2 category).

A dedicated team of reporters and anchors, hosts, producers and board operators, and our program director helped the station earn this honor.

In addition to this award, WOOD also won Best-in-Category awards for breaking news (with a report about the Kent County Prosecutor's investigation into the Roy Schmidt party-switch), newscast (by John Bry), feature programming (for a news report on religion and politics), play-by-play sportscast (by Bob Kaser, calling a Griffins game), and regularly scheduled weekend broadcast personality or team (for the Flowerland Show's fritillaria segment).

WOOD Radio also received Merit awards for breaking news (on the crane collapse at the Kent County Correctional Facility), morning show broadcast personality or team (Gary, Steve, and Lauren on West Michigan's Morning News), and regularly scheduled weekend broadcast personality or team (for the Flowerland Show's "Polk Salad Annie" segment).
