Police say 34-year-old Aubrey Coy kidnapped her daughter during a supervised visit Sunday afternoon. It all started in Warsaw around noon Sunday when police say Coy and her mother picked up the girl for the supervised visit. A judge had appointed the grandmother to be the supervisor. But at 5:30, the grandmother reported both Coy and her 5-year-old missing, telling police they might be in the White Pigeon area. A cell phone ping put Coy in that area and a Michigan State Police trooper pulled her over. At first, dash cam video shows Coy pulling over and talking with the officer. Police say her daughter was in the front passenger seat. But when the trooper asked her to get out of the vehicle, she took off. The video shows him trying to reach in and pull her keys out of the ignition. When he catches up to her, he uses the loud speaker in his car to yell, ‘Pull over. Think of the child.’ Then, the video shows Coy pulling the little girl onto her lap in the driver’s seat while driving down the road. “She literally put not just herself and that child in danger, but those officers that were chasing [her] and other pedestrians on the roadway,” said Michigan State Police Detective Sergeant Todd Peterson. “And I think that goes a long way to show her judgment at least was pretty impaired.” Police say the chase got up to 75 miles per hour and lasted 5 or 6 miles.
