Shipbuilders working on the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier have welded a time capsule inside the flight deck control room. The time capsule includes a commemorative coin designed by Ford's daughter and a piece of sandstone from the same stone builders used for the White House and the US Capitol.
Thursday's installation of the time capsule follows another milestone that came in May, when the aircraft carrier's primary hull structure reached 100 percent structural completion (pictured below).
