Missing Washington state girl found in lakeshore man's home, police say

SOUTH HAVEN TOWNSHIP (WOOD-AM) - A 30-year-old sex offender is facing a list of charges after police found a missing 14-year-old girl from Washington state at his home in South Haven Township.

The girl was reported missing from the city of Mount Vernon on January 6.

Tips had been coming in to law enforcement since then.

"That culminated on the night of the 30th, when we got a tip that led us to possibly focus on a subject whose name had been out there publicly," Lt. Dave Shackleton with the Mount Vernon Police Department told WOOD-TV.

Police say she as found in the home of Keith Freerksen, who is on the sex offender registry for convictions in Florida.
