Man, 19, shot in weekend officer-involved shooting in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Bodycam footage has been released of a Saturday officer-involved shooting near Union Avenue and Innes Street in Grand Rapids.

Police received a call about a man threatening customers inside a business and locking himself in a bathroom. They found him in an alley around 8:30 a.m.

The 19-year-old admitted to having a box-cutter.

He was seen in the bodycam footage attempting to charge at officers and was shot several times.

He was shot one again after getting up and going into a garage.

The suspect is recovering in a hospital and is expected to survive.

Both officers are now on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

The investigation has been turned over to the Michigan State Police.
