MDHHS may ask for blood and urine testing

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is looking to test the level of chemicals in the blood and urine of Grand Rapids residents.

The department is gathering data on chemicals, including mercury, lead and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.

A team will be in Grand Rapids on January 17-19 and January 24-26 for the testing.

MDHHS may send a letter to some households in the area asking for one adult in the home to give a blood and urine sample.

Residents will receive a $65 gift card and their lab results for participating.
