"Operation Handshake" today at Ford International Airport

CASCADE TOWNSHIP (WOOD-AM) - Veterans and active military members will be getting a warm welcome at the Ford Airport today.

Operation Handshake starts at 8 a.m. Military-affiliated groups will offer greetings, sing patriotic songs and wave American flags.

The public is invited.

“Each year it is an honor to greet veterans and active military and see the expressions on their faces,” Phil Pakiela, captain of the Patriot Guard Riders of West Michigan, said in a press release.

The Patriot Guard Riders are also asking you to contact them with flight information if you know a veteran or active military member who will be arriving at GRR today. Pakiela's email address is papapakiela@gmail.com.
