Man accused of stealing thousands through fraudulent charges in court today

WYOMING (WOOD-AM) - Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker says he's filed a 20-year felony charge against a 20-year-old who allegedly committed thousands of dollars in credit card fraud, apparently after his February arrest for stealing credit card information while working at McDonald's.

Quanta Barnes is due in Wyoming district court today. His felony continuing criminal enterprise charge is one of several.

"Continuing criminal enterprise is because you’re involved in a larger group and a bigger thing of behavior," Becker told WOOD-TV.

Court documents allege Barnes stole $60,000 from one account and used it for online sports betting. That man's wife was dying in a Grand Rapids hospital at the time.

Barnes, in a separate case, was also one of the four McDonald's workers accused of stealing card information from customers.
