Grand Rapids Police dog seriously injured in crash

The Grand Rapids Police Department says a police dog was seriously injured in a crash Friday morning.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. when the dog and his officer were on the way to a reported breaking and entering in progress.

The car had its lights and sirens on but was hit by an SUV in an intersection.

The SUV was estimated to be going 75 mph.

The officer was pinned in the cruiser but was not injured.
