Butterflies are Blooming exhibit back for the spring

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is welcoming back the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the country.

The Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming event will feature over 7,000 butterflies of 60 different species.

The exhibit opens March 1 and will run through April 30.

Vice President of Horticulture for the gardens, Steve LaWarre, says they work on permits for the event three years in advance because they have to work with the USDA and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
