LANSING (WOOD-AM) - Few details have been released, but state health officials have confirmed that Michigan's first pediatric flu death of this year was in Ingham County.

Doctors are urging parents to take their children in for a flu shot.

"It's not too late to get the flu vaccine," Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Chief Medical Executive Natasha Bagdasarian said in a news release."Once children reach six months of age, it is recommended they receive two doses of the flu vaccine for their first series."

Bagdasarian is also urging parents to get a flu shot.
