Ottawa Co. health officer files lawsuit against commissioners

Ottawa County's health officer is filing a lawsuit claiming she was illegally demoted.

The county's board of commissioners voted on January 3 to move Adeline Hambley to serve as interim administrative health officer while they worked on installing Nathaniel Kelly in the role.

The issue was added to the agenda in the middle of the meeting.

The lawsuit claims seven Ottawa County Commissioners have no cause to oust her and that public statements have made it clear Hambley will be terminated "imminently."
