GRPD: Suspect shot himself after shootout with officers

Grand Rapids Police say a man shot himself after a "running shootout" with police on Thursday.

Police say Patrick Jones was wanted for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend, Tamiqua Wright, on October 11.

GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom says video was captured by a bystander of Jones firing a gunshot that likely led to his death.

Winstrom says no officers were nearby and an autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.

Videos of the incident will be released to the public Friday afternoon.
