Strong harvest for West MI wine grape growers

West Michigan vineyards and grape growers extended their fruit's time on the vine as a late warm front from Hurricane Ian passed through the area.

Fenn Valley Vineyard vice president of operations and winemaking Brian Lesperance says the grapes are in a good enough place right now, however the get more complex the longer they hang on the vine.

Wine grape harvest season typically runs from Labor Day through October depending on weather.

Lesperance says he calls it extreme farming as they try to get every possible growing degree out of the climate.
