Muskegon Co. candidate for judge arraigned on domestic violence charge

A Muskegon County judge candidate was in court on Monday, after he was accused of beating his girlfriend with a belt.

Jason Kolkema pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Prosecutors say there is a video recording of him allegedly physically abusing his girlfriend in mid-August.

Kolkema and his girlfriend both say he was hitting the chair she was sitting on, not her.
