The Big Three 5-12-22
1 Every Democrat Senator (except for West Virginia’s Joe Manchin) voted for a bill that would allow abortion on-demand through out the country.
Manchin joined every Republican in voting no.
Michigan Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters were included on the yes list.
2 The first outbreak of avian influenza (HPAI) has been detected in a commercial poultry operation in Muskegon County.
The flu spreads easily across flocks, transferring from infected poultry as well as through equipment, wild birds and even the clothes worn by caretakers.
The outbreak does not pose a food safety risk, but the virus can be deadly for infected poultry. Consumers are encouraged to handle chicken and eggs safely.
3 Drug overdoses in the US were deadlier than ever in 2021, according to provisional data from the CDC. Nearly 108,000 people died of drug overdoses last year, and about two-thirds of those deaths involved fentanyl or another synthetic opioid.
Overdose deaths have been on the rise for years in the US, but surged during the lockdowns.
