Muskegon Police Chief to retire

Muskegon's public safety director is officially retiring on Friday.

Jeffrey Lewis has served as a member of law enforcement for 44 years.

He started his career in a small sheriff's office north of Ann Arbor.

Lewis also worked in Ypsilanti and Milan.

He took over managing the city's police and fire departments in 2011.

Lewis says his tenure hasn't been perfect but there's nowhere else he would rather work.
