Prosecutor: Kalamazoo deputy justified in shooting

The county prosecutor has ruled a Kalamazoo County sheriff's deputy was justified in shooting and killing a suspect in December.

The deputy will not face any charges in the death of Daniel Hopkins Russell.

The incident happened on December 18 around 7:15 a.m. when the suspect's mother's partner called 911 saying he had stabbed them and was suicidal.

Both Russell's mother and her partner survived after facing serious stab wounds.
