Man shot by trooper was unarmed

Michigan State Police say the man shot and killed by a trooper on Monday afternoon was not armed.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Monday in Heath Township.

The trooper was responding to a break-in in progress and got into an altercation with the suspect in the yard.

MSP says the trooper sustained minor injuries to his face.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
