1 Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is calling it quits.

She announced yesterday that all COVID-19 epidemic orders on gatherings and masking will be lifted Tuesday June 22. The restrictions were scheduled to be lifted July 1, but a continued downward trend in new cases has accelerated the process, according to the state.

2 Grand Rapids-based Spectrum Health and Beaumont Health on the southeastern side of the state say they are preparing to merge before the end of the year. 

Beaumont, the largest health care system in the state, and Spectrum, West Michigan’s largest health care provider and largest employer, this week signed a letter of intent to begin the process to create a single new system.

3 Grassroots groups delivered nearly 10,000 signed affidavits to the Michigan legislature, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and others yesterday as they gathered at the Capitol to demand a full forensic audit of the 2020 election in Michigan.
